Auckland
Orewa's long, gentle beach is Auckland's ideal learner wave: sheltered, sandy-bottomed, patrolled in season, and under an hour from most Auckland schools. This is where Auckland classes learn to surf.
The beach
Orewa Beach offers what EOTC coordinators want most: a gradual sandy bank with consistent small whitewater, easy bus access and parking, toilets and changing facilities close to the sand, and sheltered corners when the wind swings. Our Orewa team has taught first-timers here for years through Orewa Surf Lessons, part of the Aotearoa Surf family.

Programs available here
Half and full days for primary, intermediate and secondary students.
Weekly sessions for PE classes and senior programs, building real progression across a term.
Auckland schools heading north: combine an Orewa taster day with an overnight camp at Mangawhai later in the year.
Travel tip: for Auckland schools, Orewa is the day-trip beach; Te Arai and Mangawhai (about 90 minutes from the Harbour Bridge) are worth it for camps and overnights.
